Change or Cancel Your Plan

Upgrade, downgrade or cancel, and what happens to your money

Change or cancel your plan

You can change your plan or cancel it at any time, from the Control Panel. This page shows where, and what happens to the money you already paid.

Change your plan

  1. Open Billing › Upgrade, or go to the pricing page.
  2. Set the new plan. Under the price you see the Unused Days of your current period and the Estimated Credit Applied for them.
  3. Click Submit order, then Place order.
  • Every change is pro-rated: you pay or get credit only for the difference over the unused part of your current period.
  • The new plan works within a few minutes. A smaller plan's limits apply as soon as it starts.
  • A plan cannot go below what you use: remove indexes or clusters first if you have more than the new plan allows.
  • A plan without the Backup add-on stops the daily backups of your indexes.
  • To switch between monthly and yearly billing: Switch Between Monthly and Yearly Billing.

Cancel your plan

  1. Open Billing › Cancel Plan. It appears only while a paid plan runs.
  2. Read the message. It says exactly what happens to the money for your account.
  3. Confirm. The dashboard then shows what was done.

Either way, your account moves to the free plan at once.

What happens to your money

  • A New Account that cancels inside the money-back window gets every payment back, to the card it paid with. No credit is kept in that case.
  • Every other cancellation: no money is refunded. The unused part of the current period becomes account credit, taken off your next payment. Credit cannot be exchanged for cash.

Who counts as a New Account, and how long the window is, are set in section 8 of the Terms and Conditions. The Terms decide; the Cancel Plan message applies them to your account.

After cancelling

  • Your account stays, on the free plan, with no more payments.
  • An index above the free plan's disk or traffic limits becomes unreachable until you are on a paid plan again. Download what you need before you cancel.
  • To close your account completely, see Cancel Your Opensolr Subscription or Close Your Account.
