Free plan · forever · no credit card
The free plan does not expire

Sign up with a name and an email address. There is no card form, no trial countdown and no end date. Your index stays online for as long as you use it.

Opensolr is free, and stays free

The Opensolr free plan is free forever. It is not a trial: there is no countdown, no expiry date and no card. You sign up, you get a working Opensolr Index, and you keep it for as long as you use it. If you outgrow the free limits, you can move to a paid plan — but nothing forces you to.

How it works

Getting started takes about 30 seconds:

01
Create an account
Just your name and email. No credit card fields anywhere, at any point.
02
Get your Opensolr Index
A fully managed Solr index is provisioned for you in seconds. Standard Apache Solr, full API access.
03
Index and search
Push your data over the Solr API, from WordPress, from Drupal, or from any Solr client library, and query it right away.

What's included

These are the current free plan limits, read live from your account package:

1 Opensolr IndexFully managed, on shared infrastructure, ready the moment you sign up.
48.8 MB disk spaceThe size your index is allowed to reach on disk.
512 MB traffic / monthSearch and API traffic in and out of your index each month.

Who is this for?

  • Developers prototyping an application that needs real search
  • Small sites that want proper search without running a Solr server
  • Teams evaluating managed Solr as an alternative to self-hosting
  • Students and researchers who need a reliable search backend
  • Anyone curious about what Opensolr can do, at no cost and no risk

Keeping your index

The plan never expires, but an abandoned index can be cleaned up. This is the only rule that can cost you an index, so it is worth knowing:

What keeps it alive
Any one of these counts as activity: logging in, adding or changing documents, changing your index configuration, or running a search or API request against it.
30 days of nothing at all
If none of those happens for 30 consecutive days, the index may be removed under section 9.2 of the Terms. We email you first, and using the index clears it.

Bottom line: use your index and it stays. You will never be charged, and you will never be cut off for a date on a calendar.
