Opensolr Turbo Indexer - Fast Parallel Solr Indexing for Drupal

Parallel Search API Solr indexing for Drupal 10 and 11

Welcome!

Opensolr Turbo Indexer is a free Drupal 10 and 11 module for sites that search with Search API Solr. It indexes many batches at the same time, one per worker process, instead of one batch after another.

You run it from the command line with Drush. It works with every Solr server Search API Solr connects to, an Opensolr Index included.

It works only on Search API indexes: with Search API Solr on its own, or with Search API Opensolr, which builds on it. The Opensolr Search module does not use Search API, so the Turbo Indexer has nothing to index on a site that searches with it.

Parallel workers

Each worker indexes its own batch. Workers never share items.

Runs in the background

Keeps going after you log out. Check it any time with drush oss.

Stop and resume

Stop whenever you like. The next run starts where this one stopped.

Several at once

One session per server or per index, side by side.

Quick start

  1. Install it: Install (two commands).
  2. See what is waiting to be indexed: drush oss
  3. Index it in the background: drush ost
  4. Follow it with drush oss; stop it with drush osstop.
drush oss
drush ost --server=my_solr_server
drush oss

drush ost indexes only the items Search API has marked as waiting. To redo every item, follow Reindex a whole site.

Drupal without Search API?
The Opensolr Search module brings Opensolr site search to Drupal and needs no Search API: Opensolr Search for Drupal.
