Welcome!
Opensolr Mail is a free, open source Android app for Fastmail. It puts every Fastmail account you have in one unified inbox, in threads, with notifications you can answer from, search, contacts, your Fastmail Notes and your Fastmail calendars. All of it works with a Fastmail account alone.
Nothing in Opensolr Mail is locked behind an Opensolr account: not the inbox, not sending, not notifications, not notes or calendars, not search, not contacts. Install it, sign in to Fastmail, and every screen works. An Opensolr account is an optional extra that adds AI search and instant push, and you can connect it, or never connect it, whenever you like.

Which search the app uses is chosen in Settings → Preferences → Search. With Opensolr chosen and the index out of disk space or bandwidth, or not reachable, search falls back to Fastmail on its own.
- Install the signed APK from GitHub. Android 8.0 or newer.
- Sign in to Fastmail in your browser, and add your other accounts.
- Read your mail in the unified inbox, search it and write to anyone in your contacts. That is all you need.
- Only if you want AI search and instant push: connect an Opensolr account.
With an Opensolr account and AI in its plan, the Chat button next to Search lets you ask your mail a question in your own words.
