No recovery codes left: ask Opensolr support
Sign-in asks for a code from your authenticator app, the app is gone and you do not have a recovery code? A person at Opensolr support can remove the authenticator app from your account. You then sign in with your password and set it up again.
Write to help@opensolr.com
- Send the mail from the exact email address you sign in to Opensolr with. If that address is an alias, the alias has to be the From address of the mail.
- Write that you cannot sign in because you lost your authenticator app (or the phone it was on), that you have no recovery codes, and ask Opensolr support to reset two-factor authentication on your account.
- Do not send your password, a code or a screenshot. Opensolr support does not need any of them.
help@opensolr.com takes mail only from the email address of an Opensolr customer account: an account on a paid plan, a member of its team, or a free account with at least one Opensolr Index. Mail from any other address, even a second address of yours or one on the same domain, comes back to you as not delivered. More on this: who can email Opensolr support.
What Opensolr support does
Opensolr support removes the authenticator app from your account, or turns two-factor authentication off. Opensolr then sends an email to your account address, with a subject that starts with Opensolr security:. An old Opensolr entry in your app, if you still have one, no longer works: delete it.
Your next sign-in
- Sign in at https://opensolr.com/users/login with your email and password. Forgot the password too? Click Forgot your password? on the same page (see reset your password). A new password alone does not turn two-factor authentication off.
- With the authenticator app gone from your account and no SMS codes, no code is asked. Opensolr takes you to the Two-Factor Authentication page, which says Two-factor authentication is required.
- Click Set up authenticator app, scan the new QR code with your app, enter the 6-digit code it shows and click Turn on. More: where the QR code is.
- When ten new recovery codes appear, save them with Copy or Download .txt, keep them somewhere other than your phone, then click I saved them.
- Click Continue to open your account.
