AI Reader: Any Result as a Short Summary

Read the gist of any result without leaving the search

AI Reader

Every result on the hosted search page has a Read button. It opens the result in the AI Reader, on top of the search page, with a short summary written from that page. Visitors get the gist of a result before they decide to open it, and never lose their search.

The buttons

  • Read (AI Reader) on a web page or a whole document.
  • Read Page (AI Reader, this page) on a result that is one page of a PDF.
  • Read Document (AI Reader, whole document) next to it, for the whole PDF.

What the reader shows

  • The title, the date when it is known, and Page N of M for a page of a PDF.
  • The page's picture, when it has one.
  • The AI summary, in English, written word by word: one sentence on what the page is about, then its main points. It uses only what the page says.
  • Read Full Page opens the original; on a PDF page the link is Open PDF at page N and opens the PDF at that page.
  • The download button (Download as PDF) saves the reader as a PDF file; the close button returns to the results, where the visitor left them.

A video result shows the video's own title: see Video details.

Where it works

For a short answer to the search itself, rather than a summary of one result, see AI Hints.

What it uses from your plan

The summary uses the AI of the plan of the account that owns the index. Every plan includes a monthly AI allowance of 500 AI requests; see pricing and API Quota.

  • Each summary written counts as one AI request.
  • A page summarized before is shown again for free, and a summary that fails is not counted.
