Video Details from Your Pages

Duration, title, thumbnail and more, read from the video markup

Video Details

When a crawled page shows a video, Opensolr stores the video's details with the page: duration, title, description, thumbnail, upload date, views and channel. A video site becomes searchable and filterable by them, like a shop by its prices.

Where they are read from

From the video markup most sites and video players already publish, in this order, field by field:

  1. JSON-LD VideoObject
  2. microdata VideoObject
  3. Open Graph video tags (og:video, og:video:duration)
  4. the Twitter player card

A page that mentions a video but carries no duration and no video address gets no video details.

A duration filter for visitors

  1. In the Control Panel, open your index and click WebCrawler.
  2. Click Settings, open Search Facet Filters and click Configure Facet Filters.
  3. In Facet Filter Mapping, search for video_duration_i, tick On and pick the widget Duration (seconds → h:mm:ss).
  4. Click Save Configuration.

Visitors get a slider that reads in hours, minutes and seconds. The upload date (video_upload_dt) works the same way with the Date Range Picker widget. More: Facet widgets.

When a visitor opens a video result in the AI Reader, it shows the video's own title.

Pushed documents

Documents you send with Data Ingestion keep the fields you send. Send the duration in whole seconds in a field ending in _i and the Duration widget works for it too.
