Pin a Result
A pin puts a page at the top of the results for one search. You make it on your own hosted search page, on the real results, so you see the effect at once. Query Elevation must be on for your index (how).
Pin a page
- In the WebCrawler tab of your index, click Search UI in the Quick Access bar. Your hosted search page opens with Pin, Exclude and Exclude All under every result. Use a computer: on narrow screens these buttons are hidden.
- Search for the words your visitors type, for example
return policy. - Under the page that should come first, click Pin. The result now says Pinned and comes first for this search.
- Pin more pages for the same search if you need them. Each new pin goes after the ones already pinned.
Change the order of the pins
Pinned results get a drag handle. Drag them into the order you want; the new order is saved when you drop. Results that are not pinned stay in their usual order, after the pins.
Good to know
- A pin needs a search of at least two characters. Without a search, only Exclude All is offered.
- Pinning a page replaces any other rule it had.
- Remove, under a pinned page, takes the pin away and the page goes back to its usual place.
- Opened from the Control Panel, the buttons stay while you work. After 30 minutes without activity, click Search UI again.
- A pin applies to the search you made it on, word for word (How the rules work).
