Your site, searchable, in one place
Opensolr puts the content of your site, its pages, products, PDFs and documents, into one Opensolr Index. On top of it you get everything visitors need to find what they look for: a ready search page, answers written from your own content, search by image and an out-of-the-box chat bot that talks to your site's data. Opensolr runs all of it. You bring the content, one of four ways.
Four ways in, one Opensolr Index, everything your visitors use on top of it.
01 · Get your data in
Give Opensolr the address of your site or its sitemap. It reads every page, PDF and document it finds, on a schedule, and can read them again to keep them fresh. Best for a public website.
Send your records and files to the Data Ingestion API. Best for content that is not on public pages: a product database, an app, a folder of documents.
The Opensolr Search module does either one from your Drupal admin, and can send a change the moment you save it.
The Opensolr Search plugin does the same for WordPress, WooCommerce products included.
02 · What every page gets
Every page and record is understood by its meaning as well as by its words, in many languages. Done for you, nothing to set up.
Scanned PDFs and the pictures inside your documents are read into words, so they are found by what is printed in them.
Pictures with no text get a description of what they show.
Language, sentiment, a quality score, prices and product categories, video details: found on each page and ready for filters.
03 · Search that understands
Words and meaning ranked together by Opensolr's own hybrid ranking, {!hybrid}. A search finds the right page even when it uses other words.
"Exact phrases", + for a word that must be there, - for a word that must not.
A complete search page at search.opensolr.com/YOUR_INDEX, or inside your own pages with one snippet.
Visitors search with a photo. The text in it and its barcodes or QR codes are read too.
Filters in a sidebar on any field: category, price, language, date.
Pin a result to the top, or hide it, for the searches you choose.
Field weights, the balance of meaning and words, the search mode: set from the Control Panel, no configuration files.
04 · Answers and chat
A short answer written from your own pages, above the results, when the visitor asks for it, with its sources.
Any result opened as clean text with a summary, ready to download as a PDF.
A chat on your site that answers your visitors from your index and links every source. Three ways to have it: the embed code from your account, the open source client on your own server, or the Drupal module.
Meaning vectors, picture meaning, search by image, AI Hints, AI Reader and the chat bot use the monthly AI allowance of your plan: what site search uses from your plan.
05 · Measure and keep fresh
What visitors search for, the searches that find nothing, what they click.
Watch a crawl as it runs: pages done, pages waiting, errors.
Your pages read again every number of days you choose, so new prices show and removed pages leave the index.
06 · Build on it
Everything above from your own code: control the crawl, push data, search, answers, meaning vectors, pictures, facts for chat bots.
LangChain, LlamaIndex, Haystack, an MCP server for AI agents and Laravel Scout, on your Opensolr Index.
The fields of a site search index, for developers who read it directly.
07 · Before you start
A region with site search, the Opensolr schema, and the AI of your plan for the features that use it.
What counts as an AI request, what is free, and what happens when the month's allowance is used.
Indexes, disk, bandwidth and the monthly AI allowance of every plan.
08 · See it, try it
Videos and live demos of site search, answers and search by image.
A sandbox index: add your own content and see search by words, by meaning, hybrid, and an answer written from it.
Scanned PDFs searched by the words printed in them.
The Opensolr documentation, searched on its own hosted search page.
