Query Stats shows what visitors type into the hosted search page of your Opensolr Index: the most searched words, how often and since when, the searches that found nothing and the results people click. It is the quickest way to learn what your visitors want.
Open it
- Open your Opensolr Index in the Control Panel.
- Click the WebCrawler tab.
- In the Quick Access bar, click Query Stats. It opens in a new browser tab, titled Query Analytics & Tools.
What is counted
- Every search on your hosted search page, on search.opensolr.com or embedded in your site.
- Searches of 4 to 200 characters.
- Each visitor once per query: a visitor who repeats a search does not raise its count, only its Last Used date.
The Drupal module and the WordPress plugin keep their own search analytics: Drupal, WordPress. The Query Analytics tab of the Control Panel is something else: it counts the requests your index receives, from any source.
The tabs
- Overview: Total Searches, Unique Queries, Avg. Searches/Query, Popular Queries (searched 5 times or more), Very Popular (20 or more), Single Use and Stored Records, with charts of the top 10 queries, query length, words per query and the daily activity of the last 30 days.
- Queries: every query with Searches, First Seen, Last Used and Days Active. Switch between Last 24 Hours and All Time, search the list, click a column to sort it.
- No Results: the searches that found nothing. See Searches with no results.
- Click Analytics: the results people click. See Clicks on results.
- Elevation Rules: shown when Query Elevation is on, with the results you pinned or excluded for each query.
Export and clean up
- Export CSV downloads every query with its search count, last used and first seen dates and days active, the most searched first.
- To remove queries, tick them in the list and click Delete Selected. It cannot be undone.
- A query searched only once is dropped after about a year without being searched again. Queries searched more often stay.
