Delete your data, keep your account
This page explains how to delete the data that the Opensolr Photos Android app holds under your Opensolr account, without closing the account. To delete the account itself, see Delete your account and your data.
Delete everything the app has indexed
Opensolr Photos keeps what it finds in a search index of its own, inside your account. Deleting that index deletes everything the app holds about your photos, in one step, and you can do it yourself at any time.
- Sign in at opensolr.com/users/login.
- Open My Indexes and find the index created by the app. Its name starts with photos_.
- Choose Delete and confirm. The index and every document in it are removed from our servers at once.
Your photos are not deleted by this, because we never hold them. They stay on your phone, where you delete them yourself. Deleting the app from the phone does not delete the index, so do this step as well if that is what you want.
Delete single photos from the index
If you want to remove only some photos rather than all of them, do it from the app.
- In the app, select the photos you no longer want indexed and delete them from the phone.
- Run Re-Sync from the sync screen. Photos that are no longer on the phone are removed from the index.
Ask us to delete it for you
If you cannot sign in, or you want something else removed, write to us.
- Write to support@opensolr.com from the email address of the account. We only accept a request that comes from that address.
- Use the subject Delete my data and say what you want deleted.
- We answer with a confirmation, then delete it. Requests are processed within 30 days, normally within a few working days.
What is deleted and what is kept
When the index of the app is deleted, this is what happens to the data held under it.
Indexed photo data
Deleted. The file path of each photo, the words describing it, the tags, the people and the notes you wrote, and the numbers that make it searchable.
Places
Deleted with the index. The city and country of a photo are held in the index, never separately.
Photos
Nothing to delete. Photos are sent to our servers only to be read, and are not stored. They remain on your phone.
Account
Kept. The account stays open with its email address, name and other indexes. Delete it from the account deletion page if that is what you want.
Invoices
Kept. Accounting law requires us to keep issued invoices and the payment records behind them. They hold the billing details, not your indexed content.
Server logs
Kept for a short period as part of normal operation, then overwritten. They hold request lines, not indexed content.
How we handle data in general is described in our Privacy Policy. For anything about a deletion request, write to support@opensolr.com.
