Five steps
From a free account to your first search. Each step links to the page that explains it.
- Create your free account at opensolr.com/register. The free plan has no time limit.
- Create an Opensolr Index. In the top menu open Solr > Add New Index, click a region card, type an Index Name and click Add Index. Create an index.
- Note how to reach it. Open Solr > Index List and click the cog of your index. The Info tab shows its Host, Port and Path. A new index logs in with the username
opensolrand your API key as the password. Connect to your index. - Put your data in, the way that fits your site:
- Drupal or WordPress: the free Drupal module or WordPress plugin sends your content for you.
- Any website: crawl your site, or push your data from your own code. Both need an index in a region with site search: what your index needs.
- Your own app: the standard Solr API, or the packages for Laravel, LangChain, LlamaIndex, Haystack and MCP.
- Run your first search. In the control panel of the index, click Solr Query in the Quick Actions bar: the first search of your index opens in a new tab. Indexes filled for site search also get a ready hosted search page.
