Hide a Result
Some pages should not come up: an old price list, a page that moved, a test page. Query Elevation hides them for one search or for every search, without touching your website or your index.
Two buttons
- Exclude hides the page for the search you made the rule on. The result says Excluded. The page still shows for every other search.
- Exclude All hides the page from every search on your hosted search page. The result says Excluded (all).
Hide a page
- In the WebCrawler tab of your index, click Search UI, on a computer. Query Elevation must be on (how).
- Search for the words where the page shows up. For Exclude All, any search that shows the page will do, or none at all.
- Click Exclude or Exclude All under the page.
You see the label at once. The next time the search runs, the page is gone from the results.
Changed your mind?
Right after the click, the page is still on your screen with its label. Click Remove under it and the rule is gone.
Once the search runs again, a hidden page no longer shows, to you either, so there is no Remove button to click. Today the only way to show it again is to turn Query Elevation off, which deletes every rule of the index (How the rules work). Check twice before you hide a page, above all with Exclude All.
A hidden page stays in your index and keeps being updated. To take a page out of the index for good, remove it from your site or from your data; it then leaves the index the next time your content is refreshed.
