Suggestions and Did You Mean
The hosted search page helps visitors while they type and after they search. Both work by themselves on every hosted search page: there is nothing to set up.
Suggestions while typing
From the second letter, a list opens under the search box:
- Searches other visitors made on your index that start like what is being typed, the most searched first. Up to three. Click one to run it.
- Titles of matching pages from your index. Click one to open that page in a new tab.
The list holds up to ten lines. It respects what the visitor already chose: the tab, the language, the locale and the filters in the sidebar.
The searches come from what visitors typed on your page, the same searches you see in Query Stats.
Did you mean
When a search has a spelling mistake and your index knows a better spelling, a line shows above the results: Did you mean: followed by the corrected search. One click runs it. The corrections come from the words in your own pages, so the names of your products and places are corrected too.
The line does not show for a search by photo, where the words come from the picture and not from the visitor.
