Delete an Opensolr Index

Type the full name to confirm

Delete an index

Deleting an Opensolr Index removes it and its documents for good. There is no undo, so the control panel asks you to type the full name first.

01 · One index

  1. Open the control panel of the index (the cog in Solr > Index List).
  2. Click Delete Index, the last item of the left menu. For a cluster it reads Delete Cluster.
  3. In Type your full index name to confirm, type the exact name of the index.
  4. Click Delete Index. You are back on the Index List, without it.

02 · Several at once

In Solr > Index List, tick the boxes of the indexes, click Delete selected, read the list and type DELETE to confirm. They are deleted one after the other, with a progress bar.

03 · What goes

  • The index on its server: its documents and its configuration files.
  • Everything Opensolr kept for it: crawl URLs, IP restriction rules, Query Elevation rules, search statistics, team access to it, and its chat bot with its settings and conversations.
  • Its schedules: crawl, backup, optimize and recrawl.

04 · What stays

  • Backups already taken stay and expire on their own, like every backup: Backup.
  • The bandwidth history of the index.
Want a copy? Take it first

Download a backup before you delete: Download a backup. Once the index is gone, its control panel is gone too.

05 · Good to know

  • The replicas of a cluster are not deleted one by one: delete the cluster from the control panel of its master.
  • A deleted index frees its place in your plan at once, so you can create a new one.
  • By API: API: Delete Solr Index.
