Refunds of credit notes

When the invoice was already paid.

A credit note of a paid invoice leaves money owed back: to the client for an issued credit note (De restituit clientului, Still owed back to the client), by the supplier for a received one (De primit înapoi de la furnizor, Still owed back by the supplier). The refund is recorded like a payment, the other way, in full or in part.

01 · From the bank
  • When you post a movement, the list offers the credit notes with money owed back, marked stornare, de restituit (credit note, owed back): money out for an issued credit note (Factura primită pe care o plătește sau factura de stornare emisă care se restituie, Received invoice it pays, or issued credit note refunded), money in for a received one.
  • A smaller movement refunds part of it; the rest stays owed back.
  • See Post a bank movement.
02 · Through the cash desk

In the Cash book, choose the credit note in Factura pe care o achită (Invoice it settles): a Plată (ieșire) (Payment (money out)) refunds an issued credit note, an Încasare (intrare) (Receipt (money in)) records the supplier’s refund. A smaller amount refunds part of it.

03 · Through Stripe

In the Stripe balance import, a refund pays back the credit note of the invoice its charge collected. Without a credit note yet, the refund is booked on the client’s account until the credit note is issued. See Stripe in the books.

04 · By hand
  • On the credit note’s page: Suma restituită (Amount paid back), in its currency and without the minus sign (empty: all that is still owed back), and Restituit pe (Paid back on).
  • Press Înregistrează restituirea (Record the refund).

Each refund shows under the credit note’s payments. In the SAF-T file a refund is a payment the other way, while a credit note set against its invoice is no payment at all. See D406.
