Signing in and two-step verification

Password, then the code from your authenticator app. Every account, every time.

Every account signs in with two things: its password, then a six-digit code from an authenticator app on the phone. There is no account without two-step verification.

The first sign-in of every account sets up two-step verification before anything else.

01 · Setting it up, the first time

Right after an account is made, the screen Verificarea în doi pași (Two-step verification) opens:

  1. Scan the QR code with an authenticator app, such as Google Authenticator, 1Password, Authy or Bitwarden. The key under it can also be typed in by hand.
  2. Enter the six-digit code the app shows in Cod (Code) and press Activează (Turn on).
  3. Ten Coduri de recuperare (Recovery codes) appear. Each one works once, if you lose the phone. Keep them somewhere safe: they are shown only now. Le-am salvat, continuă (I saved them, continue).

If the code is refused, check that the time on the phone is right and try again.

02 · Signing in
  1. Intră în cont (Sign in): Email and Parolă (Password), then Continuă (Continue).
  2. Cod de verificare (Verification code): the six-digit code from the app, or one of your recovery codes. Then Intră în cont (Sign in).

You have ten minutes between the two steps. When three or fewer recovery codes are left, the app reminds you to make new ones. See Password and recovery codes.

03 · Wrong attempts
  • Too many wrong passwords or codes, from one address or for one email, pause sign-in for a few minutes: Prea multe încercări. Încearcă din nou peste câteva minute. (Too many attempts. Try again in a few minutes.)
  • Five wrong codes in a row send you back to the start: Prea multe coduri greșite. Intră din nou în cont. (Too many wrong codes. Sign in again.)
