Reading what is in a picture needs a plan with vector search. Without it, no picture is read: the small copy of each new photo still goes up, but Opensolr only takes its date, camera and position from it. Your photos are still indexed and searchable by everything the phone knows about them.
- Everything you write: your tags, your wording, and the people you name, since faces are found and compared on the phone.
- Everything the photo carries: the date, camera, lens and exposure, the folder, the file name, and the place its GPS position is turned into.
- The rest of the app: browsing, Stats, the filters by person, tag, year, place and camera, the map, similar photos by EXIF and by exact copy, the viewer, the editor, sharing, PDF and deleting.
Search matches words: your words against those. It is the same lexical search Opensolr's site search runs on such a plan.
puppy no longer finds a photo read as dog. The AI switch and the Semantic ↔ Lexical slider are greyed out and say why.
New photos get no words of their own. The Meaning filter and the Things section of Stats stop growing; a section with nothing in it is not shown.
Receipts, labels and screenshots are not read, so the OCR filter and Documents have nothing new.
The stops built on what a photo shows find nothing new; the EXIF and exact-copy stops work as before.
A photo read on an earlier plan keeps its words and its printed text, as long as it is the same file. When your plan gets vector search, the photos indexed meanwhile are read at the next sync.
The app says it right after sign-in, Photos are not recognised on this plan, and on the Me screen. What each plan includes is on opensolr.com/pricing.
