The web app works on the same library as the phones, but a few things need the photos on the phone itself, or the phone's own copy of the index. For these, use the Android app.
Naming a face, which is how a person is put on a photo, and finding the photos of the same people (the Same faces stop of similar photos). The faces are kept on the phone. On the web you can see the names and take one off a photo. See people and faces.
Setting a photo as the phone's wallpaper. See setting a wallpaper.
Having photos read again by Opensolr, and the sync itself, which finds new photos in your folders. See how sync works.
The list of photos the phone could not read. See when a sync stops early.
Dropping your own words for what a photo shows, with Reset in the phone's edit sheet. On the web you can rewrite them, not reset them.
Copying the photos of your folders into the backend. The web app sets the backend and reads from it, and its own uploads go there, but the phones do the backing up.
Searching, browsing, filters, grouping, similar photos, the viewer, tags, places, PDFs, deleting, the map, the stats, the backend and search tuning all work in the browser, and what you change there reaches every phone. Start at Photos on the web.
