Before it creates the phone's index, the app asks where it can go: the regions that run vector search, with the one nearest to the phone marked among those recent enough for the app's configuration.
01 · The call
POST https://opensolr.com/solr_manager/api/vector_regionsA form with email, api_key, nearest=1 and min_solr=9.6. Only when the phone's index has to be created.
02 · The answer and the choice
A JSON list of regions, each with its environment, country, solr_version and nearest. Opensolr marks as nearest the region closest to where the phone connects from.
- The app takes the region marked nearest.
- If none is marked, it takes the first one on Solr 9.6 or newer, then simply the first.
- If the list is empty, it says No Opensolr environment with vector search is available right now and creates nothing.
Nothing is asked of you and nothing is shown; the region list itself always comes from your account, never from the app. Then create_index follows.
