Finds a city or town by its name, for the place picker. It is the only call the app makes to look a place up; the names of a photo's own position are worked out by Opensolr when the photo is indexed.

01 · The call
POST https://opensolr.com/solr_manager/api/place_search

A form with email, api_key, q (what you typed) and limit (10).

It runs when you type in Search for a city or town, in the Where was it taken? map. See places.

02 · The answer

A list of places, each with its name, province, region, country, latitude and longitude, and, when known, its kind, population, locality and postal code. The app lists them; picking one moves the map there. Nothing is sent about your photos.

When nothing matches, the picker says Nothing by that name.

Every call it makes
