As soon as something is typed, an AI switch appears in the row above the results. It decides whether the search also looks at what the photos mean, or only at the words they carry.
Photos are found by what they show as well as by words, so dog on a beach finds the photo even when nobody wrote those words on it. This is how a search starts when your plan includes search by meaning.
Only photos that carry your words come back: in what they show, the text printed in them, the names, your tags, the camera or the place. Useful when meaning brings in look-alikes you do not want.
- Clicking the switch runs the search again straight away.
- It holds for the open page; reloading the page turns it back on.
- When your plan does not include search by meaning, the switch is greyed out and every search matches words only. See without photo recognition.
- A search of a single letter always matches words only.
- How much words count against meaning while the switch is on is set by the balance slider in account and search tuning.
- With the switch on, a phrase in quotes only helps the ranking. Put
+in front of it, or turn the switch off, to make it a must.
