An iPhone Live Photo is two files: the picture and a clip of a second or two. Copied to an Android phone, both land in your folders. Opensolr Photos indexes the picture as a photo and the clip as a video, each found on its own.
Live Photo clips are often in a format Android's own reader refuses. The app then tries, in turn: a frame from Android's reader, the thumbnail Android makes, and finally its own player, which reads the clip itself. The first one that gives a picture is the clip's frame in the grid, in the index and in the backup.
- The clip shows in the grid with its frame and its length, like any clip, and plays in the viewer.
- When the phone cannot play it, the viewer shows the frame and Open in video player.
- When no picture can be drawn at all, the clip is still indexed by its date, place, length and name, with a plain stand-in picture, and still backed up. Nothing is read out of it.
- Clips that an older version of the app could not read are read once more after an update, by themselves.
A motion photo from an Android camera is a single picture file and is indexed as a photo. With Originals as the backup quality, the file goes up byte for byte, as it is.
