Erasing text

Find text marks every word in the photo; you choose which go, and only the letters are erased.

A date stamp, a caption, a watermark, the clock on a screenshot: Find text marks every word in the photo, you choose which go, and Erase now takes them out.

01 · Find the text
  1. In the editor, tap Erase, then Find text.
  2. Every piece of text the app finds gets a box. A filled box will be erased.
  3. Tap a box to keep that text: it turns to an outline. Tap it again to erase it after all.
  4. Tap Erase now.

A photo with no text says No text found in this photo. Text the app missed can be painted over with your finger, in the same go; see erasing people and things.

02 · Only the letters go
  • Inside each box, the app tells the colour of the letters from the colour behind them and erases the letters only. The background in the box, a sky, a dark band, a wall, stays as it was.
  • Text written over a busy picture, where the letters' colour is everywhere around them, is erased with its whole box.
  • The commas and accents under and over letters are inside the box, so they go with their word.
03 · On your phone

Finding the text and erasing it both happen on the phone, with no network and no AI requests. The app only looks for where text is; it does not read what it says. Searching your photos by the words printed in them is a different thing: see printed text.
