The grouping button above the grid decides how the photos are laid out. The choice is kept from one search to the next.
Only after a typed search: Best matches on top, Also similar under them.
Year, month and day, with the last few days on top. See browsing.
By where the photos were taken.
By the people named on them.
By your own tags.
As the folder tree it is, three levels deep: Pictures, then 2019, then 11.
By make and model, written as one name: Nikon Z6.
Browsing with nothing typed offers all of them except Best match. Photos with no value of their own sit in a last group: No date, No place, No one named, No tags, No folder or No camera. Grouping costs no request of its own: the values come with the results, or from the phone's copy of the index.
- After a typed search, the results are split where the score falls the most, below a good share of the top score.
- The split is made only when there are enough results, and Best matches always keeps the first few.
- When the scores are close together, everything is a best match.
- Neither heading can be ticked as a group: the line between them moves as more results arrive.
- Every heading folds away with a tap, says how many photos it hides, and stays folded until you open it.
- While you are selecting, a tap on a heading ticks its whole group. See selecting photos.
- Results come 60 at a time; the next page is asked for before the grid reaches the end, so it is usually there already.
