Type what you remember in the search line, Search your photos, clips and PDFs, and press Enter. It searches what the photos show, the text printed in them, the people you named, your tags, the camera and the place, all at once.
- On Enter. Typing alone does not search.
- On a suggestion: after two letters, up to eight words from your own library are offered under the line. Click one to search it. Escape hides them.
- On the × in the line, which clears the search and shows the whole library again.
- Did you mean appears when a word looks misspelt. Click it to search the corrected words.
- Suggested filters: up to ten values your results share, taken from your tags, what the photos show, cities, countries, years and camera models, each held by at least two of them. Click one to add it as a filter.
- Filters that are on show as chips; the × on a chip takes it off.
The ? at the end of the search line opens the Search operators sheet, the same one as in the phone app:
"word1 word2"matches the words together, in that order.+wordmust be in every result;-worddrops every photo that has it. Both work on a phrase too:+"13 inch",-"open box".- They combine freely, and with the AI switch on,
+wordis the quick way to remove look-alikes. More on the search operators page.
By default a search is ranked by how well it matches, split into Best matches and Also similar. The Group menu arranges it by date, place, people, tags, folder or camera instead, and the AI switch decides whether meaning counts. How words are matched can be tuned in account and search tuning.
