An album link is a web page with some of your photos, clips and PDFs that anyone who has the link can open: no account, no app. They can look and search inside it. They can never change, delete or add anything.
The pictures on that page come from your own backup storage, so album links need a backup backend first. See backup to your own storage.
Made from what you are looking at: your search words and filters, or one group of the list (a day, a month, a year, a place, a person, a tag). It keeps up on its own: a new photo of that person, that place or that day shows on the page the next time the link is opened.
Made from the photos you picked, or the one you are looking at. It shows exactly those, nothing more. A PDF goes with all of its pages.
- Chosen items: select photos, or open one in the viewer, tap Share, then Copy link.
- An album of what is shown: search or filter, then tap the link button in the row above the photos. The button shows only after a search or a filter, so the whole library is never shared by mistake. While you are selecting, the same button makes a link of the chosen items.
- An album of one group: tap the link button on the group's heading, for example on a person when the list is grouped by people.
- Link in the bar above the photos, after a search or a filter: an album of the search and filters.
- The link button on a heading (it shows when the pointer is over it): an album of that group.
- Link in the selection bar, and Link under a photo in the viewer: the chosen items.
- The name is filled in for you (the search words, the group or the file) and you can change it. It is the title of the page and of the preview in chats.
- Never expires, or Expires after a number of days. After that the link says it has expired.
- Copy link makes the link and copies it. Paste it in any chat, email or note. A chat app shows a preview with the newest picture of the album, its name and how many items it has.
- The photos, clips and PDFs of the link, by date, with the search line, the filters and the grouping.
- Each item full screen with its details: date, camera, place, the people in it, your tags, what the photo shows and the text printed in it.
- No editing, no deleting, no selecting, no uploading, and nothing outside the link: the rest of your library stays out of reach.
- Searching inside a link matches by words. Search by meaning stays in your own app.
- On the phone: Me, Album links, with Copy and Remove on each link.
- On the web: the account icon at the top right, Album links (https://photos.opensolr.com/links). Each link shows when it was created, what it shows, when it ends, and how many times it was opened and when last. Details opens everything about it.
Every time the link was opened: the date and time, the country with its flag, the internet address, the browser, and whether it was a person or a chat app making its preview. Filter by people or previews, by country, and by the last day, week or month.
Never expires, or Expires a number of days from now. Save end date applies it at once, also to a link that has already ended.
Deletes the link for good, with its visits. It stops at once for everyone who has it, and it cannot be brought back. A picture already open in someone's browser can stay on their screen until they close it.
- Anyone who gets the link can open it, also if it is forwarded. Remove it when it should stop.
- Each open of a link is recorded for you, the owner: time, internet address, country and browser. The person opening it is not told.
- The pictures are read from your storage each time the page is viewed, so viewing counts toward your storage provider's traffic.
- An album made from search words shows what those words match. A search by meaning in the app can find a few more photos than the album does.
