Editing tags, people and wording

Add or remove your tags, take a name off a photo, and rewrite the words that say what it shows.

Tags, people and words, under a photo in the viewer, opens Edit and the file name. It changes what your index says about the photo. The photo file itself is never changed.

01 · People
  • The names on the photo, each with an × to take it off this photo.
  • Names are put on a photo by naming a face, which is done in the phone app. See people and faces.
02 · My tags (Albums)
  • Type a tag and press Enter or Add. Commas add several at once: Maria, holiday 2021.
  • While the box is in use, suggestions appear under it: Your tags, the ones you already use, and From your photos, words your photos were read as. Click one to add it.
  • The × on a tag takes it off. A tag is anything you would search for, and each one becomes an album of its own under Group: My tags.
03 · What the photo shows
  • The words the photo was read as, separated by commas, which you can rewrite.
  • Your wording is kept even when the photo is read again.
  • Emptying the box does not clear the words. Dropping your own wording is done with Reset in the phone app.
04 · Saving

Save writes the change to your index; every phone of the account follows with its next sync. If it cannot be saved, the sheet stays open and says why. To change many photos at once, see tagging many photos at once.
