Sorting Search Results

Relevance, or any enabled facet field

Visitors can sort results with two menus next to the search results: the order (Relevance or a field) and the direction (DESC or ASC).

Where the options come from

Every facet you enable on the Facet Mapping tab is also a sort option, with the same label, except the hierarchical ones. Enable a price facet and visitors can sort by price; enable a date facet and they can sort by date. When no facet is enabled, the menus do not show and results are always in order of relevance. To add an option: Facet Configuration.

Good to know

  • The chosen order is kept in the address of the page, so it stays when visitors change page or pick a filter.
  • Clear all, which removes the filters, keeps the sort order.
  • The Fresh switch only reorders results in order of relevance. While a field sort is chosen, the field decides the order.
