The AI switch sits next to Fresh on your search page. On, the search looks for your visitor's words and for their meaning, so a page can be found even when it says the same thing in other words. Off, the search looks for the words only.
When it shows
The switch shows when both are true:
- your Opensolr account can use AI right now: your plan includes it and the monthly AI allowance is not used up;
- Search Mode, on the Search Tuning tab, is not Lexical Only.
When it does not show, every search runs on keywords only.
How it behaves
- It starts on, and stays on until the visitor turns it off.
- The choice lives in the address of the page, so it stays for the next search, filter or page, and a shared link keeps it.
- A search by image that reads text in the photo runs on keywords, and the visitor's choice comes back with the next typed search.
