Facet Configuration: Choose Your Filters

Pick the fields, widgets and order of your filters

Facet Configuration decides which filters show in the sidebar of your search page, how each one looks and in which order. It is the table below Field Mappings, on the Facet Mapping tab.

The table

It lists the string, number and date fields of your index, the enabled ones first. When your index is still empty, it says "No Solr fields found". Each row has:

  • a handle to drag the row up or down;
  • Enable: shows the filter on the search page;
  • Solr Field: the name of the field in your index;
  • Type: string, numeric or date;
  • Widget: how the filter looks (below);
  • Label: the title visitors see;
  • Docs: how many documents have the field;
  • Weight: the place in the sidebar, from 0 to 99, lowest on top. Dragging a row sets it for you;
  • Min: the fewest documents a value needs to be listed, from 1 to 100.

Click Save Facet Settings when you are done.

The widgets

  • List: values with their counts. A filter box appears above lists of more than 10 values.
  • Min/Max slider: a range for numbers, such as price_f.
  • Duration slider (h:mm:ss): a range for lengths in seconds, offered for integer fields only.
  • Date range picker: from and to dates.
  • Hierarchical (drill-down): a category tree, level by level. Hierarchical category filters

Good to know

  • Every enabled facet, except the hierarchical ones, is also a sort option of the search page: Sorting.
  • A field you add with Field Mappings shows here once your content was crawled or ingested again.
