A lost or sold phone can be cut off from your Opensolr account at once, from opensolr.com, without touching the phone.
Every phone connected to your Opensolr account is listed in Account → Devices on opensolr.com. Sign out there cuts that phone off:
- The phone’s Opensolr key stops working.
- Its mail index gets a new random user name and password, so the ones the phone saved no longer open it. The index and everything in it stay.
- Its push addresses on the relay are removed.
The app notices the next time it is opened or talks to Opensolr:
- Search on Opensolr, the AI answer, the chat and indexing stop.
- New mail is checked every 15 minutes instead of arriving at once.
- Reading, writing, notes and calendars go on: they come from Fastmail.
- Search and Settings offer the Opensolr sign-in, unless Fastmail search is chosen in Settings → Preferences → Search.
Sign in to Opensolr again in the app and it picks up the new password on its own. Search and instant notifications are back at once, and nothing is indexed again.
To sign out from the phone itself instead, use Sign out in Settings → Opensolr Account: the Opensolr search turns off, and the rest of the app stays as it is.
