Type what you remember. The app finds it by the words and by what they mean, across every account.
Without one, the search screen explains why and offers the sign-in. See signing in.
- AI on: words and meaning together, so “flight tickets” also finds the boarding pass. Off: exact words only, best for a code or an order number.
- Fresh on: recent mail goes to the top.
- The balance between words and meaning is a slider in Settings → Search.
Above the results, tap Answer from these messages and the best results are read and summed up in a few lines. The answer comes from your own mail and nothing else.
- From and To, each person with their address, one line per address.
- Company, account, folder, year, weekday and attachment type.
- Any two days on a calendar, and switches for unread, flagged, answered, with attachments, and with attachment text.
- Group results by day, month, sender, company or account.
Your query, filters, grouping and scroll position stay as you left them while the app is open. Trash and Junk are left out unless you include them.
On Wi-Fi, the app reads the text of attachments — PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OpenDocument, RTF, text, HTML, and pictures — into your index, so the invoice is found by the number printed inside it. Archives are never opened. How many are still to be read is in Settings → Search index.
