You sign in on Fastmail’s own page and on Opensolr’s own page, in the phone’s browser. The app never sees a password.
01 · Fastmail
- Tap Sign in with Fastmail. Fastmail’s sign-in page opens in your browser.
- Type your Fastmail address, your password and your two-factor code, exactly as on the web.
- Approve access for Opensolr Mail. You are back in the app and your inbox fills.
No IMAP or SMTP settings, and no app password. To add another account, open Settings → Mail accounts → Add account and do the same with the other address. Each account can be signed in again or removed from the same place.
02 · Opensolr, for search
Only search needs an Opensolr account. Connect one whenever you like: from the search screen, from Settings → Opensolr account, or on the first screen of the app.
- Tap Connect an Opensolr account. The Opensolr login opens in your browser.
- Sign in, with two-factor authentication if you use it, and approve the app.
- The app creates your mail index and starts filling it in the background. See your Opensolr account.
No Opensolr account yet? Create one, free, no card. Signing out of Opensolr in Settings turns search off and leaves the rest of the app as it is.
