Web and Documents Tabs
Give your visitors a separate search of the files attached to your pages: PDFs, Word, Excel and other documents, one result per document with its best matching pages.
Turn it on: Opensolr Search › Search Page tab › Drupal Native › Search Documents (off by default)
What visitors see
- Two tabs above the search box: Web for your pages, Documents for your files.
- On Documents, each file is one result. A PDF comes as one group: its title, number of pages, date and how many of its pages matched, then its best matching pages in order, each with a Page N link that opens the PDF at that page.
- Show more pages loads the rest of the matching pages of that PDF.
- With AI Hints on, each page has Read Page and the group has Read Document.
The files have to be in your index
The tabs only show what was indexed. Tick Include attached files (PDFs, documents) on the Data Ingestion tab, the Data Crawler tab, or both, then send or crawl your content again. Scanned PDFs and the pictures inside a PDF are read too: see Text in scans and pictures.
