Reindex Everything, From Scratch, or Reset
Three buttons read your site again. Only one of them, Reset Index, deletes what is in your Opensolr Index.
Where: Opensolr Search › Data Crawler tab › Crawl Management
| Button | What it does | Your search results | Use it when |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reindex Everything | Puts every page Opensolr already read back in the queue and starts a crawl at once. | Stay as they are while pages are read again. | Results feel stale, or after a structural change: content types renamed, new facet fields mapped, new modules that change your pages. |
| Reindex From Scratch | Clears Opensolr's own list of pages done and to do, and starts a fresh crawl from your sitemap. | Stay as they are. Nothing is deleted from the index. | You want every page fetched again from zero, or the crawl list looks wrong. |
| Reset Index | Deletes every document from your Opensolr Index. | Empty until your pages are read again. | Last resort, for a completely fresh start. |
After Reset Index
- Reset Index asks twice before it deletes anything.
- Your search page shows no results.
- Click Reindex Everything to read your pages again. If you use Data Ingestion, run Ingest All Now as well.
None of the three buttons changes your crawl schedule: if it was running, it keeps running.
