Search by Image
Visitors can search with a photo: a product label, a screenshot, a part they hold in their hand. The camera button sits at the left of the search box on the native search page.
How it works for the visitor
- Click the camera button and pick a picture: JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, TIFF, HEIC, HEIF or AVIF, up to 20 MB.
- When the picture holds text, the text is read and searched as words, and a note shows what was read. Otherwise Opensolr works out what the picture shows and searches for that.
- Barcodes and QR codes found in the picture are shown as links: a code that is a web address opens it, any other code runs a search for it.
- The search box shows a thumbnail of the picture. Typing in the box goes back to a text search.
Each picture is read by Opensolr and uses AI requests of your plan; a picture read before costs nothing. See What it uses from your plan.
