AI Hints, AI Reader and the AI Switch

Answers and summaries written from your own pages

AI on Your Search Page

Three AI features come with the native search page: a short answer written from your own pages, a reader that sums up any result, and a switch for visitors between meaning search and plain keywords.

AI Hints

Turn it on: Opensolr Search › Search Page tab › Drupal Native › AI Hints (off by default)

An AI Hints button appears above the results whenever a search has results. A click writes an answer to the visitor's question, word by word, from the best matching documents of your own index. The same question on the same results is answered again from a cache for 7 days.

AI Reader

The same checkbox adds a Read button to every result. It opens a full-screen reader with a summary of that page. On a result that is a page of a PDF there are two: Read Page and Read Document, for the whole PDF.

The AI switch

Next to Fresh, visitors see an AI switch. On, the search uses words and meaning together; off, it uses the words alone. It starts in the position your Search Mode gives it, and it is shown only when meaning search can run:

  • your Opensolr plan has AI and still has AI requests left this month;
  • Search Mode is not Lexical Only.

What they use

Answers, summaries and meaning search use the monthly AI requests of your Opensolr plan. Every Opensolr plan includes 500 AI requests a month; the plans page shows larger allowances, and API Quota explains what each plan includes and how requests are counted.
