Set up the WireGuard app

The WireGuard app is free for macOS, Windows, Linux, iPhone and Android. These steps make your device join the private network and keep it connected by itself.

On a phone, the fastest way is one scan: Add a phone with one scan.

01 · Create the tunnel

1. Install WireGuard from your device's app store or from wireguard.com.
2. Choose Add Empty Tunnel and give it a name. The app creates the device's private key and shows its Public key.
3. Copy the public key and add the device under Devices.

02 · Paste the config

1. In Server Management, click Config on the device's row.
2. In the app, paste the lines under the line with PrivateKey. Keep that line as the app made it. Save.

Only the private addresses of your servers go through the tunnel. Everything else on the device keeps going out as before.

03 · Connect

1. Click Activate (on phones, turn the tunnel on).
2. To connect by itself: Edit › On-Demand › tick Ethernet and Wi-Fi on macOS (on phones: Wi-Fi and cellular), then save. The tunnel stays up on every network, after sleep and after a restart.

When it works, the device appears in the WireGuard Network tab with a recent Last handshake.
