Web Terminal and Command Audit Log
A root shell in your browser, every command logged
A root shell in your browser
The Terminal tab opens a command line on your server, right in the control panel, as root. Use it for anything the buttons do not cover. Every command typed in it is recorded in the Command Audit Log next to it.
Where: Servers › My Servers › your server › Terminal tab
01 · Open a session
- Open the Terminal tab and click Connect. The status changes from Disconnected to Connected.
- Type your commands. The session starts in the folder that holds your projects.
- Click Full Window (the expand icon) for more room, and Exit to go back.
- Click Disconnect, or press
Ctrl+D, when you are done.
Full root access. The warning above the terminal means it: a wrong command can break the server or delete your data. Take a backup before anything risky.
02 · Keys for phones and tablets
A row of buttons above the terminal sends the keys a touch keyboard lacks: ESC, TAB, CTRL+R (search your history) and CTRL+C (stop a command). MORE adds CTRL+D, CTRL+Z, CLR (clear the screen), the four arrows, HOME and END.
03 · What Opensolr limits
- Some commands are blocked for safety. A blocked command is refused on screen and shows as Blocked in the audit log.
- Opensolr can keep a server's terminal inside the projects folder. Then commands that reach outside it are blocked too.
- A Git commit made in the terminal carries the name and email of the person signed in, so the history shows who changed what.
04 · Command Audit Log (Last 30 Days)
The card next to the terminal lists the commands run on this server in the last 30 days.
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Date/Time | When the command ran. |
| Command | The command as typed (long ones are shortened). |
| User | Who ran it. |
| Status | OK, Exit with the exit code when it failed, or Blocked. |
- Refresh brings in the newest commands from the server.
- Search Command, From Date and To Date narrow the list. Click Apply, or Clear to start over.
- Click a column title to sort by it.
