Opensolr Photos 2.9.2: The Place Search Answers the Way You Write
Two small things that decide whether a search box feels broken or not, on the map where you put a photo in its place.
01 Commas are separators, not letters
When you pick a place, its full name stays written in the box: Fântâni, Dolj, Romania. Searching for exactly that used to find nothing, while the same words without commas found the village. Now the two are the same question, so whatever is left in the box is always something that works — and you can write a place the way you would write it to a person.
02 It says when it is working
While the answer is on its way the box shows a small spinner, and “nothing by that name” only appears when there really is nothing. Before, a slow answer looked exactly like an empty one.
The same correction is in the Opensolr place_search API, so every application that searches places through Opensolr gets it, not only the app.
