Opensolr Photos 3.0: Buttons That Stay on the Screen, Places by Name, One Order Everywhere

A release of small things that decide whether an app feels made or merely finished.

01 The map keeps its buttons on the screen

On phones whose navigation bar does not declare itself, Cancel and Use this place could sit under the edge of the screen. The map now keeps a fixed minimum of room above and below whatever the phone reports, so the buttons are reachable everywhere. Moving a single photo also behaves exactly like moving forty: the map opens from inside the photo, not beside it.

02 Find a place by typing its name

Write two letters of a city or town and the places that begin with it come back, biggest first, with their county and country, in any language and with or without diacritics. A place written with commas — Fântâni, Dolj, Romania — finds the same as one written without them, the name you chose stays in the box, and the box shows a spinner while the answer is on its way. Answers are held on your phone for as long as you chose in Me.

03 One order, everywhere

Tag is the first action on the left under a single photo and under a selection of many: the same thing must not move because you ticked more. The order is Tag, Share, Re-sync, Delete.

04 Buttons that look like buttons

The header, the row of tools under it and the bar that appears when photos are ticked each sit on their own shade, with a thin border, so it is plain what can be pressed. Titles are bold, explanations a step lighter and shorter, and nothing is written over your photo any more — the counter at the top of the viewer is gone.
