Opensolr Photos 3.3: Your Folders as the Tree They Are

· Opensolr Photos · Improvement · All updates

A folder called 11 tells you nothing. A folder called 11 under 2019 tells you everything.

01 Folders, as a tree

Grouping by folder now shows the folders one inside another, three levels deep, as the date grouping shows year, month and day. A library kept as 2019/11, 2019/07, 2024/02 used to come out as a flat list of 11, 07 and 02 side by side, in no order that meant anything.

02 The small print of a tree

A folder holding nothing but one other folder is written on a single line, Pictures / 2019, rather than taking a level of its own for one arrow. Anything deeper than the third level is held by the group at the bottom, so its photos are all there without the headings marching off the side of the screen. Photos lying directly in a folder that also holds folders get a line of their own under its name. Ticking a heading takes the whole branch below it.

03 A slider you can aim

The similar photos slider moved a whole kind at a time, so a thumb that had barely moved flicked through two or three of them. It glides now, and a stop is left only once the finger is most of the way to the next one; let go and the thumb settles on the stop it chose.
