Opensolr Photos 3.16: Lexical Matching, an Account Screen That Folds, and One Button to Your Index
Three smaller things that came with Opensolr Photos 3.16 and 3.16.3, next to people by their faces: a say in how strictly your words are matched, an Account screen that folds, and a straight way from the app to your index in your Opensolr account.
01 Lexical matching
- Flexible, Balanced or Strict. Account → Settings → Tuning, next to the Semantic and Lexical balance, now has Lexical matching: how many of your words a photo must match by its text before it counts at all. Balanced is the default.
- When to move it. Flexible for a vague memory in many words, where one or two matching words should still bring a photo up. Strict for a name, a place or a tag you know is there, where every word must match.
- Meaning is untouched. The choice only concerns the words side of the search; the balance slider still decides how much meaning counts against them.
02 An Account screen that folds
- Every section folds. Updates, Info, Stats, Settings and Advanced each fold on a tap, and inside Settings so do Feedback, Language, Places, Tuning and Search cache.
- It stays as you left it. Which sections are open is remembered, so the screen opens the next time on the parts you use.
03 Manage this index in your Opensolr account
- One button to your index. At the bottom of the Account screen, Manage this index in your Opensolr account opens the index the app built in the Opensolr app when it is installed, offers the app when it is not, or opens the index on opensolr.com, where you can see it, back it up, empty it or delete it (from 3.16.3).
Opensolr Photos updates itself from GitHub. If you installed it before, it offers the new version on its own within a day.
