Your search page is a normal TYPO3 page named Search, at https://your-site/opensolr-search. The extension creates it when you connect your account, hidden from your menus and left out of TYPO3's own indexing, with the Opensolr Search content element as its content, so your site's header, menu and footer wrap it like any other page.
Good to know
- Rename or move it as you like: every link of the search page follows its address.
- If the page is deleted, the extension still answers at
/opensolr-searchwith a page of its own, and creates a new Search page the next time you connect your account or open the Search Page tab. - Your site's search box is not taken over. To send it to this page, point the form at
/opensolr-searchand name its text fieldq. Every search has its own address, such as/opensolr-search?q=solar+panel, that can be shared. - Every language: on a multilingual site the page answers in each language, such as
/de/opensolr-search, and searches that language. Multilingual sites - Only your site: results are limited to the pages of your site's domain, even when your index holds other sites.
- When you are signed in to the TYPO3 backend as an administrator, every result gets PIN, EXCLUDE, EXCLUDE ALL and REMOVE buttons: Pin and exclude results.
Two ways to show it
- TYPO3 Native (default): the extension draws the page with its own template.
- Opensolr Embeddable Search UI: the hosted search page of your index, shown inside your page.
What visitors can do
- Autocomplete and Did you mean: suggestions as they type, and spelling help.
- Search operators: phrases, required and excluded words.
- Sorting: relevance, or any enabled facet field.
- Fresh: newer results first.
- AI switch: search by meaning, or keywords only.
- Web and Documents tabs: pages and documents searched separately.
- Search by image: a photo as the query.
- AI Hints: a short answer written from your content.
- AI Reader: a summary of any result, with a PDF to download.
- Facets: filters in the sidebar, behind a Filters button on phones, with the active filters shown above the results and a Clear all link.
Each result shows its title, the path of its address, a snippet with the searched words marked, and, when there is one, a picture and a date. The number of results and the time the search took appear at the right of the row above them.
