Opensolr Photos 3.2: Lay the Grid Out by Folder or by Camera

Two more ways to sort your photos out, and a view of alike photos that is worth scrolling through.

01 By folder, by camera

The button above the grid now offers Folder and Camera as well as Best match, Date, Place, People and My tags, and it remembers what you chose. A folder is named by the last part of its path — Camera, Screenshots, WhatsApp Images — because the whole path reads the same on every line. A camera is its make and model as one name, Nikon Z6. Photos with neither sit in a last group of their own.

02 Neither one costs a request

A typed search asks for the two values in the very request that brings the results, and browsing reads them from your phone's own copy of the index, which now keeps them as columns of its own — filled once, from what the copy already held, with nothing asked of the index and nothing read again.

03 Similar photos, tighter

The loosest setting, same first 2 words, is gone: two photos that share two ordinary words are not alike, they are merely both photos. The loosest one left, same first 3 words, now asks that the photos were taken by the same camera as well, and leaves out any group of more than five. Three words on their own pair photos by arithmetic rather than by likeness; the camera turns those pairs back into photos of one thing, taken by one person, with one device.
