Opensolr Photos 1.8: Albums, a Duplicates Finder and Tag Suggestions
Opensolr Photos, the free and open-source Android app that makes the photos on your phone searchable by what they show, keeping the index in your own Opensolr account, reaches 1.8 with three things people asked for: albums, a way to find duplicates, and faster tagging.
01 What is new
- Albums — your photos grouped by your own tags, by the things they show, by place, by camera and by year, each with a stacked cover of its newest photos. Tap one and the photos are filtered to it.
- Duplicates — a slider picks how duplicates are found: by the words a photo was read into, by its EXIF (the same shot, even after a filter or a crop), by both, by file name or by file size. One tap selects one photo of every group for you to review before anything is deleted.
- Tag suggestions — the tag field offers your own tags and the words your photos were read into, as you type.
- A clearer app — a labelled menu at the top, compact filters, and a warning of the app's own before any photo is deleted.
Search keeps working while a large library is still being indexed: new photos become searchable within about ten seconds.
