Installing the app

Download the signed APK from GitHub and install it. Android 8.0 or newer.

The app is one APK, signed by Opensolr, on the GitHub releases page. Android 8.0 or newer.

01 · From GitHub
  1. On the phone, open opensolr-pdf-reader.apk, the latest signed release.
  2. Android asks whether your browser may install apps. Allow it for this install.
  3. Tap Install. The app is called Opensolr PDF Reader in your app drawer.
02 · From Google Play
  • The Google Play build is the same app without any network permission. Google Play installs and updates it.
03 · What it needs
  • Android 8.0 or newer.
  • No permissions to grant. It reads the PDF another app hands it, or the one you pick on its start screen.
04 · Uninstalling
  • Uninstalling removes the app, the count of the apps you share to, and the OCR models it copied next to its files. Your PDFs are not touched: they were never the app’s.

Opensolr PDF Reader is open source and MIT licensed. Questions about the app belong on GitHub.
