Languages

The admin speaks seven languages; the chat answers every visitor in their own.

Three different things have a language: the admin, the answers, and the texts of the chat window. Each one is handled on its own.

01 · The admin

The admin, its sign-in page and its messages are in seven languages: English, Română, Français, Deutsch, Español, 中文 and 日本語. The Language tab sets the one you want. Its first choice, The language of the browser, follows the languages your browser prefers, and falls back to English for any other.

02 · The answers

The chat answers every visitor in the visitor’s own language. There is nothing to set: a visitor who asks in German is answered in German, the next one, asking in Japanese, in Japanese.

03 · The texts of the chat window
  • Your texts, the title, the text of the chat button, the greeting and the placeholder, are shown exactly as you write them on the Chat window tab. Write them in your site’s language.
  • The window’s own texts, its buttons, the list of commands and its messages, are in English.
04 · Translating with /translate

The /translate command knows 109 language codes. Write two codes joined by a hyphen, from-to, or only the language to translate into, and the language of the text is recognized:

/translate en-es What is this?
/translate es What is this?

The codes are in the chat itself: the ? button, then Table of language codes under /translate, with a search box. More on Commands.
