A Chat Bot for Every Web Crawler Index: Embed It on Your Site or Show It on Your Search Page

· Web Crawler · New Feature · All updates

Every Opensolr Index on a Web Crawler server now comes with a chat bot that Opensolr runs for you. Your visitors ask in their own words and get answers from your own pages, products and documents, with every source linked. Nothing to install: one line on your pages, or one switch for your hosted search page.

01 What your visitors get

  • Answers from your index. The chat searches your index, writes the answer from what it finds and says so when your index does not have it.
  • Every source linked. Each page, product and PDF page the answer is built from is linked, so visitors land on your content.
  • Their own language. Visitors ask in their language and get the answer in it, written word by word.
  • Commands, at once. /search, /time, /rate, /vat, /vatcheck, /distance, /place, /postal, /ip, /language, /translate and /help, each with an example in the chat.
  • Ratings. Every answer can be rated good or bad.

02 Where it shows

  • On your site. List the domains of your site and paste the line the Control Panel gives you before </body>. The chat opens only on those domains; a copy of the line anywhere else shows nothing.
  • On your hosted search page. One switch puts the chat in the corner of https://search.opensolr.com/YOUR_INDEX.

03 One section in your Control Panel

  • Chat Bot, right under WebCrawler in the menu of your index, with seven tabs: Embed code, Assistant, Chat window, Limits, Signed-in visitors, Stats and History.
  • Stats. Messages, conversations, visitors, countries, answer and click rates, ratings, what people search for, the questions your index could not answer with a link, and the pages cited the most.
  • History. Every conversation of the last 30 days, with filters and a search; open one to read it as your visitor did, delete what you do not want to keep.

04 What it needs

An index on a Web Crawler server, filled by the Web Crawler or by Data Ingestion with the Opensolr schema, and a plan with AI. The answers count against the monthly AI allowance of your plan.
